Our mindset is essential to help us navigate everyday life, regulate our emotions, and see our capabilities. I believe you must take the time to create a mindset of belief, of your ability to grow, and of controlling your thoughts. Affirmations can help improve your self-talk and your mindset over time.
The difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset
“After studying the behavior of thousands of children, Dr. Dweck coined the terms fixed mindset and growth mindset to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, leading to higher achievement.” https://www.mindsetworks.com/science/.
Believing that we can change and grow could be the difference between improvement and acceptance. The growth mindset allows you to see all aspects of your life as works in progress that you can enhance. A fixed mindset limits your potential. You believe that your effort cannot change your capabilities, you are who you are, and you cannot change or improve that based on your abilities.
I don’t believe that our mindsets are solely growth or fixed, and I think the mindset is a combination of both, depending on the area of life and our environment, and we can change that mindset by focusing on improving and learning new things. I highly recommend Dr. Dweck’s book for more information about these mindsets.
Why regulating your emotions is essential.
Emotional regulation is a term used in psychology to describe how we take power over our emotions. Sometimes, intense or difficult situations can be challenging for people to manage. That is where emotional regulation comes into play, by learning to check your emotions. Two of the big things I do to regulate my feelings are 1) journal about how I’m feeling and why, and 2) meditate or take a deep breath. When we take charge of our emotions, we function better and take action from a better state. The article below can teach you more about emotional regulation and exercises to do to help you regulate. Learning to control your emotions daily may be one of the best skills you will ever gain. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/emotion-regulation
Believing in your abilities and your ability to improve
Believing in your abilities, gifts, and talents helps give you confidence and purpose. One way to feel better about your skills and gifts is to take self-improvement seriously. Practice is the key to success when you make time to improve yourself daily. Consistency and self-mastery will push you further than doing nothing to improve your skills. Keeping track of your improvements and when you hit your milestones encourages you to see your growth and boost your confidence. Open yourself up to learning new skills because you know you’re capable.
Take care of your brain health.
Brain health is essential regarding how our minds function, our ability to complete tasks, and our feeling of confidence. To better the overall health of your brain, here are a few things that I have learned through reading lots of articles: 1) sleep, 2) brain exercises, 3) stress management, 4) meditation, 5) healthy diet, and 6) limit screen time. If you’ve never thought about your brain’s health, I implore you to make time to do things that are good for your body and mind. Over time, this will help preserve your brain’s health. Why Affirmations are helpful to improve your mindset
I have read that we are hard-wired to focus on our negative thoughts. Those negative thoughts can impact our motivations and actions and cause us to miss out on the positive things around us. This is where affirmations come in. Daily positive affirmation can be instrumental in changing that dialogue, even your self-talk, so you can be more positive and thrive in life. Being positive doesn’t take away the hardships of life, but it helps you stay optimistic and work towards living a life that reflects all the good you have rather than all the bad around you. I like to keep an affirmation in the bathroom, bedroom, and home office to remind me of the beauty in life. When I’m more optimistic, I enjoy life a whole lot more. Here is an affirmation at my Etsy store that I believe could be the boost you need to create a positive mindset. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1069123963/motivational-printable-wall-art?click_key=d642b52349274486b2e9271892cbd928f65bd159%3A1069123963&click_sum=1ab3c197&ref=shop_home_feat_1
